Featured Streams

Our production is sourced from low-cost, long-life mines located in politically stable jurisdictions. More than 80% of Wheaton’s current production is derived from high-margin operations in the lowest half of their respective cost curves, providing strong operational resilience. We are also the only streaming company with over 99% of revenue exposed to precious metals production.

The Salobo mine, located in Brazil’s Pará state, is the largest copper deposit ever discovered in the country. This low-cost copper-gold operation commenced production in 2012 with an initial design capacity of 12 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) and is currently ramping up toward an expanded throughput capacity of 36 Mtpa. Salobo operates as an integrated open-pit mining complex, encompassing mineral processing and beneficiation, concentrate handling, and transportation. Copper concentrate is trucked from the mine to Vale’s rail terminal in Parauapebas and then transported via the Carajás railway to the Ponta da Madeira port facility in São Luís for export.
Salobo is classified as an iron-oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) deposit, a deposit type that includes notable global examples such as Olympic Dam in Australia, Candelaria–Punta del Cobre in Chile, and Sossego in Brazil. Mineralization at Salobo is hosted within upper-greenschist to lower-amphibolite grade metamorphosed rocks of the Igarapé Salobo Group. This geological sequence comprises iron-rich sediments, quartzites, and gneisses that have been metamorphosed to amphibolite facies and are associated with copper–gold and copper–gold–silver mineralization. The primary host rocks are biotite and magnetite schists.

Peñasquito is Mexico’s largest gold mine, the country’s second-largest silver producer, and a significant producer of zinc and lead. Located approximately 780 kilometres northwest of Mexico City, the operation features two sulfide processing lines and a high-pressure grinding roll circuit with a combined processing capacity of 110,000 tonnes per day (tpd). Sulfide ore is treated through a conventional crushing, milling, and flotation process, producing separate zinc and lead concentrates.
Gold–silver–zinc–lead mineralization at Peñasquito is primarily hosted within two diatreme pipes, Peñasco and Brecha Azul. These pipes widen toward the surface and are infilled with breccia fragments within a milled matrix of similar rock types. Surrounding the diatremes are broad zones of lower-grade, disseminated sphalerite, galena, and sulphosalts that contain gold and silver. At depth, garnet skarn–hosted polymetallic mineralization has been identified between the Peñasco and Brecha Azul diatremes, extending approximately 1,000 metres by 1,200 metres in plan and remaining open at depth.
The Peñasquito operation comprises the Peñasco and Chile Colorado open pit mines. Surface rights in the surrounding area are held by three ejidos—Ejido Cedros, Ejido Mazapil, and Ejido Cerro Gordo—as well as private landowners. Land use agreements have been established with each ejido and applicable private owners, with terms extending through 2035 and 2036.
The Antamina mine is among the world’s largest and lowest-cost copper operations. Located in Peru’s Andes Mountains at an average elevation of 4,200 metres, the mine began production in 2001 and is operated by Compañía Minera Antamina S.A. (CMA). Ownership of CMA is shared by subsidiaries of Glencore plc (33.75%), BHP Billiton Plc (33.75%), Teck Resources Limited (22.5%), and Mitsubishi Corporation (10%).
Antamina is an open-pit, truck-and-shovel operation with in-pit crushing and conveying of ore through a 2.7-kilometre tunnel to coarse ore stockpiles at the mill. The processing facility produces separate copper, zinc, molybdenum, and lead-bismuth concentrates, with silver primarily contained within the copper and lead-bismuth concentrates. Final concentrates are transported via a 302-kilometre pipeline to the Huarmey Port on Peru’s Pacific coast for shipment to smelters through port facilities fully owned and operated by CMA.

Constancia, located in Peru, is one of South America’s lowest-cost open-pit sulfide copper mines, producing copper along with molybdenum, silver, and gold. Commercial production began in 2014 from the main Constancia pit, with operations transitioning to the higher-grade copper-gold Pampacancha satellite pit in 2021.
The processing facility is designed for a nominal capacity of 81,900 tonnes per day, equating to an average annual throughput of approximately 29 million tonnes from both the Constancia and Pampacancha open pits. The concentrator produces copper and molybdenum concentrates, while tailings are pumped to a dedicated tailings management facility. Process water is reclaimed and returned to the plant through a parallel piping system, supporting efficient water reuse.
The Constancia deposit is a porphyry copper-molybdenum system that also includes copper-bearing skarn mineralization. Mineralization is associated with multiple intrusive phases of monzonite and monzonite porphyry within Cretaceous-age sandstones, mudstones, and micritic limestones. Recent drilling has successfully extended mineral reserves and resources to the north of the existing pit.
